2010 Summer Program

Building a Healthy Community:
Your body, your neighborhood, your world

June 7 - July 29, 2010

In 2010, Project Connect held the 13th annual Summer Program from June 7 – July 29th. Children, ages 5-12, from 10 homeless shelters and/or motels in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky were bussed to our location at 2825 Alms Place in Walnut Hills. We served 75+ children each day, with a total of 130+ children benefiting from our services.

Children arrived at 9am and stayed until 3:30pm and were divided into three classrooms based on age (5-7, 8-9, 10-12). When children arrived, their healthy journey began with moving to music, and encouraging self images. A healthy breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack were provided to the children each day. The morning of each day was focused on reading, math & cultural studies, while afternoons are used for enrichment activities, trips to the pool, or other attractions. One day per week is reserved for a field trip to places like Kings Island, a Reds baseball game, Coney Island, and many more.
