FACES without PLACES Facts:
FACES without PLACES was founded in 1998 to support Project Connect, an education program at Cincinnati Public Schools in Ohio. Five thousand dollars was raised to provide a bus to bring children experiencing homelessness to a summer program. Originally called the Project Connect Homeless Children’s Fund, FwP helps Project Connect by providing valuable funding and awareness to support children experiencing homelessness. FwP has provided funding for enrichment, summer programming, transportation, uniforms, supplies, enrollment assistance, and field trips.

To help these children, Project Connect:

• clears obstacles to enrollment and attendance
• arranges transportation
• distributes school supplies and back packs
• supplies uniforms and clothing
• arranges immediate access to the free lunch program
• makes referrals to other educational resources
• offers an eight week summer academic and enrichment program
• provides tutoring and enrichment opportunities in after school programs
• encourages parents to increase their involvement in their child’s education
• advocates and increases awareness of educational rights
